Batman and Catwoman

Throughout the many different animated series, comics, plots and storylines one thing has been constant, the continuing love/hate relationship between Selina Kyle (Catwoman) and Bruce Wayne (Batman). Their relationship has been tumultuous, to say the least. However, despite the many different aspects of both their lives, personalities, upbringing, and morals something always seems to link them together.

The writers have always went back and forth with Catwoman's persona through the years, sometimes making her an ally and love interest of Batman, then a villain and adversary of Batman. But however the writing pendulum swings, a theme that is always present in the Catwoman legend is the sexual tension between her and Batman. It is implied that if it weren't for her lawless ways, Batman and Catwoman might be a romantic couple.

Despite Catwoman's labeling of "villain" She would often sympathize with other unfortunates. She is usually portrayed as stealing from those who deserve it - often helping others in need, and refraining from killing any but her darkest adversaries, and even those in self defense. When Batman started to understand that Catwoman was actually protecting and helping others that might be otherwise victimized by crime and hardship, Batman and Catwoman learned to co-exist.

In the Earth Two series, Selina had reformed in the 1950s (after the events of Batman #69) and married Bruce Wayne. Soon afterwards, the couple gave birth to their only child, Helena Wayne (the Huntress).
